Welcome to Stanford University
The Stanford area is adjacent to the city of Palo Alto. Stanford University's iconic Hoover Tower is a local landmark, rising above the campus' Mission Revival buildings and red-tiled roofs. Global electronics firm HP was launched in a Palo Alto garage, and many of the university's alumni are world-leading business leaders, physicians, scientists, and government leaders. The streets surrounding the university are lined with charming homes, manicured lawns, and private estates. Single-family, townhouse, and condominium homes within Stanford proper are only available to eligible faculty.
The Stanford Shopping Center is a 1.4 million square foot outdoor shopping experience, hosting more than 140 renowned retailers such as Apple, Bloomingdale's, Brooks Brothers, Cartier, Hermes, Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom, a Tesla showroom, Tiffany & Co., Wilkes Bashford and many others—as well as coffee shops, restaurants, and bistros. Shops for active athletes include Barry's Boot Camp, Peloton cycle shop, North Face, Lululemon, and others. Unique shops and restaurants also abound in neighboring Palo Alto. Together, Stanford and Palo Alto offer an unmatched variety of art, culture, athletic, and intellectual riches.
