New Disclosures About Fire Areas

Dear Joseph: Fire safety in California is of great importance and should be a consideration when buying a home. Effective January 1, 2021, both State and Local High and Very High Fire Severity Zones must be disclosed. Sellers with property in these zones must now disclose property improvements, fire safety and defensible space information to Buyers.
Many properties are outside of high fire zones but if they fall within them, new disclosures are required.  This should give you the information you are looking for when buying a property.
