Dear Linda: The more our homes rely on electricity to run them, the more vulnerable they are to interruptions in service.   There are workarounds that can be used if the grid goes down such as solar power, battery power built up and stored, cellular networks, satellite service and gas-powered generators.  The more reliant we are on electricity the more buyers appreciate having backup power sources.  Consult advisors who can help you determine what would be best for your property.
