High Demand for Electricity

Dear Monica: I am building an all-electric home pursuant to new codes and PG&E has a waitlist that is causing big delays. Is there any way to move this along faster?  Ruth T.

Dear Ruth:  There are several issues causing construction and remodeling projects to be delayed.  There are supply chain issues causing months of delays related to appliances, building supplies, and more.  There are also delays with PG&E because they are the ones who can do service upgrades or new installations. On PG&E’s website they lay out the process for various tasks but do not give an estimate of time a particular project will take. They mention that one can pay a fee to expedite service which you should consider doing.  With all of the new electric autos projected for the next several years, delays may only get worse so you should not wait.
