Dear Janet: Since January 1 of this year, California home sellers have been required to disclose to homebuyers the fire risks on their property. Much has been learned from the major fires of the past years, and California Fire districts have issued simple, effective ways to add fire protection to your home. Referred to as “Home Hardening”, the guidelines list things you should do to make your home as safe from fire as possible.
